Father's Day Card

Do you have a dad? Do you believe in Father's Day? Do you like helping kids in Africa? Well, I have the card for you!

It's MY card...the card I designed for Father's Day. It was also slightly designed with my husband in mind (who really likes comic book super heroes - which you would know if you've been to our house recently - 15 years of comic books all over the living room in a huge, "put-them-all-in-bags-and-organize-them-by-title" organization stand-still.) But the truth remains...the future father of our children DID inspire the design. :)

You'll have to go to a Hallmark shop and look for the Father's Day card section. (probably right up front) Look for this card and then brag about the fact that you know the girl who designed it. :) It's only $3.69. Your dad is worth it. (and don't forget the best part - the kids you saved in Africa...)

That's quite a storm you've got there...

Taken by a local KC guy last Tuesday night.
Yeah, no big deal.
Burning fuel tanker, struck by lightning.
Happens all the time.

I LOVE THIS MOVIE!!

I have seen "Sex and the City" twice now. Opening night, of course. Then again last night. I cried a lot. I got the chills a lot. I wish that wedding dress montage was my screen saver. And that cute little Kristin Davis completely took me by surprise. During the series, she was not one of my favorites. But WOW...good job Kristin Davis!!! She sure earned her paycheck for this one!! (Kim Cattrall, not so much.) If you don't walk away from this movie thinking, "wow...good job Kristin Davis!!!" then you weren't watching the same movie.

If you liked the series, you'll love the movie. If you sort of like fashion, you'll love the movie. (except that Louis Vitton bag...I found it shocking and hideous.) If you hate people and purses and the people who carry purses, stay home. This movie is not for you.

I thought Jennifer Hudson was cute but I half expected her to break in to song as she walked out the door..."No, no, no, no way..." (I watch a lot of Dreamgirls). I thought it was strange that Carrie wore pearls to bed. I thought it was strange that Samantha was in town so often. I got tired of Miranda reminding everybody that she has a job AND a kid...life is SO hard. But everything else about this movie is delicious. Vodka, Cranberry, Cointreau, with a twist of lime delicious!

P.S. I want this movie for Christmas. I can only imagine the hours of deleted scenes and DVD extras. Holy smokes...

Hooray!!!

We get to plan a wedding!!! :) My little brother proposed to Sarah last night and she said yes...actually, I believe her actual response was, "Mmmm...I guess so". He took her to a concert and waited all night for "their song". Everyone around them knew it was going to happen, including the wait staff who served about three bottles of wine to their table. I don't have a picture of the actual event (even though they came over to our house last night and we talked for about an hour - I didn't think to get out my camera...dang it!) Here's the only picture I have (in front of their new house). They almost never sit like this. And that dog isn't even theirs. He just wandered in to the picture.

CONGRATULATIONS!!! WE ARE SO EXCITED FOR YOU!!!!
(and the ring is AH-MAZING!!!) :)

Happy Mother's Day

We had beautiful weather for Mother's Day. We decided it was the perfect day to walk around Deanna Rose Farm - a local petting zoo that's gotten increasingly more awesome over the last 10 years. It's completely free to the public and they have beautiful walking trails and gardens that lead you past barns and ponds and fields full of farm animals. Goats, bunnies, cows, lambs, bobcats (not for petting), eagles, peacocks, turtles, goldfish, and buffalo.

The highlight was the fishing pond. Shannon's kids each got a bucket of worms and a pole and Emily caught a fish the second her pole hit the water. Grant waited patiently for his chance and found himself grinning ear-to-ear as his little bobber ducked under the water. We all cheered from the comfort of our swing as he showed us the catch of the day. So exciting. Shannon captured some priceless moments. (her pictures, below)

Happy Birthday to Bobby

I'm going in reverse order now. The parade was April 13th. This was April 6th (a whole month ago!) Any event with cake gets a blog entry. Plus, we love Bobby.
